Marina del Rey to Pacific Palisades...

I woke up refreshed on Saturday morning ready to walk the globe!...well maybe just a very tiny sliver of it!

I drove to Marina del Rey, parked and began my usual trek towards Santa Monica via the Venice canals. Got to Santa Monica and had breakfast at Coast Cafe. Feeling fortified, happy and with a goal in mind, I headed to a place called the Bel Air Bay Club. It's been around for a very long time and it's right on the beach front in Pacific Palisades. It's a "members only" club and as I headed north from Santa Monica, I noticed that there are quite a few of those private clubs along the way.

I also noticed many of those club members enjoying their not so private beach front spots with all of us non-members ;-)

I was surprised to see the Bel Air Bay Club come into view fairly quickly. Perhaps I had a tail-wind! In any event, there are two buildings.

One is on the beachfront side and the other is on the hill above Pacific Coast Highway overlooking the ocean. Fairly old properties I'd say but I'm sure they've undergone renovations.

The bike path was non-existent at this point so I ended up walking in a narrow strip just by the curb and next to the giant boulders that landscaped the hill to the ocean. Luckily I didn't have to go too far with cars speeding by me. I ended up at Sunset Blvd. where the restaurant Gladstones 4 Fish is located.

At that point, I debated about going further to Malibu but decided to save that "new goal" for another sunny walk.

I turned around and headed back towards Santa Monica.

Just as I approached the pier, a friend called and suggested lunch at a restaurant 6 blocks inland from the pier so off I wandered and met her there. I had water and chocolate cake for lunch! After splurging on such a nutritious lunch, I headed back towards the beach and ended up at my car in no time at all.

It was another splendid day full of sand, surf, sun, people, cats, dogs, birds, food, and exercise. What a day! I'm grateful for all I've been given.
